A Brief Ford Retrospective

Back in 1986, Ford launched an aerodynamic and smoothly styled sedan that wowed critics and car buyers. Instead of the typical boxy RWD car like the ones that dominated the marketplace at the time, the American automaker introduced a "jellybean-like" FWD vehicle, available in both a sedan and station wagon, with room enough for six or eight passengers, and in four trim levels, to boot. Not only did it change the face of Ford, it changed the auto industry, and to this day, it's one of the best-selling cars in North America.

Have you figured out which model we're talking about yet? Well if you guessed the Ford Taurus, you're correct. Since its launch 25 years ago, the company has built over seven-million models, and the only Ford models to outsell the Taurus are the original Model T, the Mustang, the Ford F-150, and the Escort. In the 90s, it was the best-selling car in the U.S., and Ford consistently improved upon its body style and handling.

Then, surprisingly, Ford discontinued the Taurus in 2007, in favor of the Ford Five Hundred and the midsized Fusion sedan. The thing was, people wanted to Taurus back. So after a short hiatus, we were happy to welcome it back as a full-sized sedan available in AWD or FWD, with a 263-horsepower V6 engine under the hood.

The 2012 Ford Taurus, now available at Keller Bros Ford, located at 730 S Broad St Lititz, PA 17543, is still a beautifully sculpted car. The roomy interior features soft-touch materials and the latest in connectivity technology; the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and sport-tuned suspension deliver top-of-the-line handling; and the available Navigation system, Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning and MyKey technology will get you where you need to go safely.
