The Ford Explorer Made of Legos

Most of remember those tiny, mulch-colored square blocks from when we were children. Some of the more expensive Lego play sets looked more like models than toys. But most of us probably never imagined building an entire car out of the small plastic blocks. Ford, on the other hand, seems to be reaching out to the child in all of us, by recently building a Ford Explorer from 380,000 Legos at the auto maker's Chicago Assembly Plant.

Bound for LegoLand in Florida, Lego Explorer is a unique, non-functional work of car art. The replica took 2,500 hours (approx. 3 1/2 months) to put together. We're betting Lego used up a lot of their intern power on this project.

Said Legoland General Manager Adrian Jones: "We're less than a month from opening and the anticipation level is incredibly high. This is the only park of its kind in the world built exclusively for kids ages 2 to 12, and it will be a total departure from anything families with young children have seen before. It's a completely immersive experience, engaging kids' imaginations and their sense of adventure through interactive play."1

There are many metal and fiberglass built Ford vehicles to test drive at Keller Bros Ford - 730 S Broad Street in Lititz, PA.
